Peppermint Leaves

Peppermint is an aromatic leafy herb known for its strong, cool mint fragrance and refreshing flavour. When dried, the leaves generally retain green to dark green shades and become light and brittle in texture. Its flavour is distinctly minty with a cooling aromatic character associated with peppermint. The aroma becomes more noticeable when the dried leaves are crushed or infused. Peppermint is commonly used in herbal teas, tea blends, beverages, confectionery flavour combinations and different botanical mixtures. It can also be combined with other herbs and flowers to provide a fresh mint character. The dried material usually consists of whole or cut leaves along with natural smaller leaf fragments. Peppermint has a more pronounced cooling character than many other mint varieties, making it easily recognizable in herbal blends.
